Individual Tax Return
Variable rate — The documents to start with are the 1040 and 1040-SR. following attachments are the most common: Schedule A is for itemizing deductions, such as mortgage interest, property taxes, medical or dental expenses, and charitable contributions; Schedule B is the place to report taxable interest or ordinary dividends exceeding $1,500 (applies to taxable accounts only. Schedule C reports the profit or loss and any deductible expenses from a business you own; Schedule D is where you report capital gains and losses from stock sales or other transactions; Schedule SE calculates the self-employment tax; Schedule E is used to report income or loss from rental real estate, royalties, partnerships, S corporations, estates and trusts.
Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the IRS for certain residents and non-residents, their spouses, and dependents. The IRS issues ITINs to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain, a Social Security Number (SSN). This includes undocumented aliens, international students, and other visa holders who are not eligible to work in the United States.
Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA) are allowed to use Form W-7 (COA) to certify that they have reviewed and verified the original documentation or a certified copy from the issuing agency of those documents through face-to-face or video electronic interviews. CAAs must have the original identification documents in their possession during the interview, in order to see the security features and authenticate the documents. CAAs are required to submit copies of the documents that they reviewed along with the Form W-7 (COA). For dependents, CAAs are allowed to authenticate the passport and birth certificate. For all other documents, you are required to attach the original documents or certified copies from the issuing agency.
Small Business
Variable hourly rate — Small business taxpayer. A small business taxpayer is a taxpayer that (a) has average annual gross receipts of $25 million or less for the 3 prior tax years and (b) is not a tax shelter (as defined in section 448(d)(3)). Form 1120S to report the income, gains, losses, deductions, credits, and other information of a domestic corporation or other entity for any tax year covered by an election to be an S corporation; An entity filing a Form 1120 U.S Corporation Income Tax Return is a domestic corporation (or association electing to be taxed as a corporation). Such an entity must file a tax return (Form 1120) each year whether or not they have taxable income. Such an entity is commonly referred to as a C Corporation and it is recognized as a separate taxpaying entity.
Form 1065 - “partnership” includes a limited partnership, syndicate, group, pool, joint venture, or other unincorporated organization, through or by which any business, financial operation, or venture is carried on, that isn't, within the meaning of regulations under section 7701, a corporation, trust, estate, or sole proprietorship.
Estates & Trust
Variable rate — Form 1041 has characteristics of a return where a taxpayer reports and pays income taxes (Form 1040 and Form 1120) and a return where the reportable income, deductions and credits are passed through to other taxpayers (Form 1065 and Form 1120S).
The Form 1041 filing threshold for any domestic estate is gross income of $600 or more, or when a beneficiary is a resident alien. The Form 1041 filing threshold for a trust is when it has any taxable income for the year, gross income of $600 or more, or a beneficiary who is a resident alien.
